what to expect…
We’ll enjoy stories about community gardens, discover the farm’s flowers, herbs and
pond, and create our very own treasure maps. Along the way, children will have
opportunities to:
- Notice and investigate the natural world
- Create and add their own ideas
- Get curious and ask questions
- Estimate & measure distances
- Make choices and shape their own adventure
- A chance to learn, create and connect with nature — with plenty of room for curiosity and imagination.
Please note we will do different stories, explorations and activities in each session, so please feel free to join both sessions.
HOW IT WORKS
- Recommended for ages 8–12 (although we welcome curious minds of all ages!)
- A trusted, adult caregiver needs to attend (participation optional)
- Clothing should be suitable for outdoors:
- Closed toed shoes with good grip
- Layers for the weather
- Bring a water bottle (snack optional)

Parking at 5 Acre Farm is extremely limited so we encourage you to walk, cycle or come by public transport if possible – buses from central Bristol stop right outside the farm (Kellways stop) and Nailsea and Backwell train station is also close by.
If you do come by car and park on nearby streets, please help us keep good relations with our neighbours by parking respectfully:
- Don’t park with wheels up on pavement
- Don’t block anyone’s driveway or access
- Don’t park near a junction
- Be mindful of noise levels when leaving, especially in the evening
If there isn’t space to park well right outside the farm, please park a little further towards the centre of Backwell and walk 5 mins.
