What is a Wassail?
Apple Tree Wassailing is an old Anglo-Saxon tradition where communities join together to celebrate and bless apple orchards to ensure a good harvest for the coming year.
It can involve traditional songs, dancing and rituals such as pouring of cidar (or apple juice) on the trees or loudly banging pots and pans to scare away the evil spirits.
